Associate Professor David Scott is an exercise scientist at Deakin University's Faculty of Health, School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, and Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN). He earned his PhD from the University of Tasmania in 2010 and previously led the Sarcopenia, Obesity and Lifestyle Laboratory at Monash University. His research focuses on age-related changes in skeletal muscle, bone health, and adiposity in older adults, with particular emphasis on exercise and nutrition interventions.
Dr. Scott's research examines sarcopenia, osteoporosis, obesity, digital health interventions, and musculoskeletal imaging. His work integrates exercise physiology with digital technologies to develop innovative solutions for healthy aging. Current projects explore voice-controlled assistants for telehealth delivery, mobile applications for weight management, and personalized rehabilitation strategies.
His publication record demonstrates consistent focus on geriatric exercise interventions, digital health applications, and musculoskeletal physiology. Recent work emphasizes telehealth delivery models, obesity management in aging populations, and innovative assessment methodologies for bone and muscle health.

As Chair of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Sarcopenia and Frailty Research's Sarcopenia Diagnosis and Management Task Force, he influences clinical practice guidelines and professional standards.
His laboratory focuses on translational research bridging biomechanics, nutrition science, and digital health technologies to develop practical interventions for age-related musculoskeletal decline. Collaborative networks include international cohort studies in Sweden and Australia.
