Robin D Dommisse serves as a Research Scientist Associate at the Bureau of Economic Geology within the Jackson School of Geosciences at The University of Texas at Austin, a position held since March 2016. He brings extensive industry experience in reservoir characterization and software design, having executed over 50 integrated 3D reservoir modeling projects for major oil and gas companies.
His academic background includes:
- Geology from the Free University of Amsterdam
- Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin
Dr. Dommisse specializes in petroleum geology and engineering with core expertise in geological modeling, reservoir simulation, petrophysics, and geostatistics. His research focuses on unconventional reservoir systems including the Bakken, Barnett, Haynesville, Fayetteville, and Marcellus shale plays, alongside conventional reservoirs in the Permian Basin and Central Basin Platform. He develops integrated seismic-to-simulation models for exploration and production optimization.
At the Bureau, he actively participates in industry research programs:
- RCRL
- TORA
- MSRL
- Texnet
- CISR
- SUTUR
- FRAC
- STARR
He has supervised graduate researchers including Bethany Rysak (M.S. 2021) and contributes to regional subsurface modeling for hydrocarbon reserve assessment across multiple North American basins.
