Roberto Sirvent is a Lecturer in American Studies at Yale University. Previously, he taught at Harvard Medical School, Barnard College, Pomona College, Scripps College, and Hope International University (HIU), where he also served as Professor of Political and Social Ethics, Chair of the Social Sciences Department, and Director of the Center for Public Leadership. He holds an MA from Johns Hopkins University, a JD from the University of Maryland School of Law, and a PhD from the London School of Theology (UK).
His research focuses on race, law, social movements, ethics, and science and technology studies (STS). He examines how Marxist, psychoanalytic, and anarchist frameworks inform debates in bioethics, public health, and environmental justice, particularly analyzing how colonialism, imperialism, and US militarism drive global health injustices and ecological crises. Current projects include exploring the libidinal economy of sports and the psychopolitics of race, as well as developing a community resource guide on queer revolt in comics, graphic novels, and animated TV, linked to radical K-12 education models.
Roberto has co-authored American Exceptionalism and American Innocence (2019) and co-edited volumes like Spirituality and Abolition (2023), Kierkegaard and Political Theology (2018), and Decolonial Christianities (2019). He also co-edits special issues for academic journals and serves as a Contributing Editor of Parapraxis Magazine.
