James Rocha

James Rocha is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at California State University, Fresno, within the College of Arts and Humanities. He holds a PhD from UCLA (2007) and has taught at institutions including Pierce College, Cal Poly Pomona, and Louisiana State University before joining Fresno State.

• Research focuses on ethics, philosophy of law, philosophy of race, and intersections with popular culture.
• Active in academic leadership as editorial board member of Slayage and coordinator of the Social Justice and Social Change Certificate.

His work spans Kant's ethical theories, feminist philosophy, and applications to contemporary issues like institutional racism and criminal justice ethics. Publications include two books (Ethics of Hooking Up, Joss Whedon, Anarchist?) and a co-edited volume on Black Mirror. Teaching awards from multiple institutions highlight his pedagogical excellence.
