Prof. Dr. Hermann Deuser is a Professor at the Max Weber Center for Advanced Cultural and Social Sciences, University of Erfurt. His research focuses on theological dogmatics, religious studies, and Kierkegaard's philosophy, with particular interest in modern European theology, pragmatism, and the anthropology/cosmology of the self.
As part of the German Søren Kierkegaard Edition (DSKE) project, he co-edited key Kierkegaard texts including journals, notebooks, and annotated commentaries. The DSKE project, supported by the Carl Friedrich von Siemens Foundation and others, aims to provide accurate German translations of Kierkegaard's literary estate.
His work explores tensions between via antiqua and via moderna in European modernity around 1800, and the mediating role of pragmatism in C.S. Peirce's evolutionary metaphysics. He has co-authored publications in collaboration with the Kierkegaard Research Center at the Max Weber College.
