Roberta Cucca is a Professor at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at NMBU. Her research focuses on socio-spatial inequalities in European cities, urban governance for just transitions, green gentrification, and school segregation. She leads the NMBU team in the EU Horizon Project RehousIn, addressing housing inequalities in green transitions. Previously, she held positions as a Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Vienna, Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic of Milan, and Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto.
Her work emphasizes the intersection of urban policy, environmental justice, and social equity. Key projects include analyzing school segregation in Oslo and exploring innovative housing solutions in Vienna. She serves on the board of RC21 (Urban and Regional Development) within the International Sociological Association.
Research interests span urban sociology, socio-ecological transitions, and multi-level governance frameworks. Notable contributions include studies on green building development in the Global South and the legacies of post-war urban planning.
Her teaching includes the course Urban Sociology (APL280). Professional activities highlight her commitment to bridging academic research with policy implementation for equitable urban futures.
