Antoine Guironnet is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for European Studies and Comparative Politics (CEE) at Sciences Po, where he contributes to the European ReHousIn project focused on reducing housing inequalities in the green and digital transition (Horizon Europe, 2024-2027). His academic affiliation places him within one of Europe's leading institutions for social sciences research.
Guironnet holds a Doctorate in Spatial Planning and Urban Planning from the University of Paris-Est, which he defended on June 20, 2017. His doctoral research examined "The Financialization of Urban Capitalism. Tertiary Real Estate Markets and Urban Development Policies in Greater Paris and Greater Lyon, the Docks de Saint-Ouen and Carré de Soie Projects," supervised by Christian Lefèvre with co-supervision from Ludovic Halbert.
His research program centers on the financialization of urban capitalism, approached through an urban political economy lens that carefully considers how financial processes reshape metropolitan governance and socio-spatial configurations. Guironnet investigates how large metropolises are transformed by residential investment landscapes and the governance of housing production, with particular attention to the interplay between capital markets and urban development policies. His work bridges theoretical frameworks from political economy with empirical analysis of real estate markets in major European cities.
Guironnet's scholarly contributions include the books Au marché des métropoles (Étaques, 2022) and L'empire urbain de la finance (with Ludovic Halbert, Amsterdam, 2023), along with articles in leading journals such as Housing Studies, Urban Studies, and Espaces & Sociétés. He serves on the Editorial Board of the journal Métropoles as co-editor in charge of book reviews, contributing to academic discourse in urban studies.
His current research agenda is anchored in the ReHousIn project (Horizon Europe, 2024-2027), which addresses housing inequalities within the context of green and digital transitions in European cities. Previously, he contributed to the international project "What is Governed in Cities: Residential Investment Landscapes and the Governance and Regulation of Housing Production," conducted in collaboration with University College London and the University of Amsterdam, demonstrating his engagement with cross-institutional and multinational research initiatives.
