Isabelle Anguelovski

Dr. Isabelle Anguelovski serves as an ICREA Research Professor and Director of the Barcelona Laboratory for Urban Environmental Justice and Sustainability (BCNUEJ) at the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA-UAB). With a focus on just, resilient, and healthy cities, she bridges urban planning, public policy, environmental sociology, and geography through interdisciplinary research.

Her research examines environmental injustice in urban redevelopment, with four key areas: (1) Politics of green cities, (2) Racial/social impacts of green gentrification, (3) Health equity in urban planning, and (4) Justice in climate adaptation. Recent work analyzes gentrification-linked health disparities and the paradox of green urbanism.

Current projects include:

• GreenLULUs (2016-2021): €1.5M ERC-funded study on green inequalities in 40+ cities
• ReHousIn: Investigates housing inequalities in green/digital transitions
• GreenME: Expands nature-based therapies for mental health equity
• Gina: Addresses gender-inclusive climate adaptation

She has received recognition including a Summa Cum Laude masters degree and leads international collaborations on urban environmental justice. Her team at BCNUEJ trains researchers in equity-focused urban governance frameworks.
