Robert Slammon is a Teaching Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Pittsburgh’s Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences. He holds a PhD from SUNY Buffalo (2011) and a BA from Boston University (1989). His research focuses on medical sociology, health as a social practice, and the securitization of health emergencies. He has extensive teaching experience across multiple institutions, including the University of Pittsburgh, DePaul University, and SUNY Buffalo.
Key research interests include the sociology of risk, science and technology studies, and classical social theory. He has published in venues such as Max Weber Matters: Interweaving Past and Present and Theoretical Criminology. His teaching excellence was recognized with the Students’ Choice Award for Teaching Excellence (2013).
