Joshua Warren is a Visiting Lecturer of Sociology at the University of Pittsburgh’s Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences. He is concurrently a PhD candidate in Sociology at Kent State University. His research focuses on gender, sexualities, queer spaces, and inequalities, employing qualitative methods such as oral history, autoethnography, and visual sociology. His doctoral work examines Pittsburgh’s leather community through an intersectional lens, analyzing spatial, gendered, and activist dimensions.

Research interests include queer criminology, carnal sociology, and the intersection of queer theory with anti-racist and feminist frameworks. He has contributed to international projects like Queer Pandemic: Resilience in Times of Crisis (exhibited at Queer Britain) and Science and Religion: Exploring the Spectrum of Global Perspectives (funded by Templeton Religion Trust). He serves on the board of the International Visual Sociology Association (IVSA) and the social media committee for the Social Problems journal.
