Robert Schwerdt is a PhD student and Lecturer at Charles Darwin University (CDU), affiliated with the College of Indigenous Futures Education & the Arts. He has over 33 years of experience in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector across South Australia and the Northern Territory, serving as an apprentice, tradesperson, academic manager, and currently as VET Team Leader. Robert's work involves teaching baking, managing VET academics in trades like cookery and hospitality, and participating in university committees including Academic Board and Student Appeals.

His research focuses on global vocational education models, particularly Dual VET systems in OECD countries, and the integration of VET and Higher Education (HE) in Dual Sector Universities (DSUs). A current HDR project (since 2022) explores organizational change in Northern Territory educational initiatives since 1989.
Robert has contributed to national educational frameworks as a member of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) for Skills Impact, advising on Food Beverage and Pharmaceutical (FBP) training packages. His expertise aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals related to quality education and sustainable communities.
