معرفی
Robert Renden is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. His research investigates the energetic requirements of presynaptic terminals, particularly how these demands change with neural activity, aging, and disease. Using patch-clamp electrophysiology and confocal microscopy, he studies mitochondrial localization and protein distribution at the calyx of Held - a high-fidelity auditory synapse.
Research Emphasis:
- Synaptic vesicle dynamics
- Mitochondrial energy metabolism
- Neurovascular coupling mechanisms
- pH regulation in synaptic clefts
- High-frequency neurotransmission
Publication Trends (15 most recent):
- Focus on mitochondrial function and synaptic energy demands
- Investigations into neurovascular communication and pH homeostasis
- Computational models of synaptic microenvironment dynamics
- Developmental shifts in presynaptic metabolic support
- Modulation of neurotransmission efficiency through molecular perturbations
Methodological Expertise:
- Voltage/current clamp electrophysiology
- Confocal volumetric reconstruction
- Viral-mediated protein perturbation
- Capacitance measurements
- Calcium signaling analysis
