Robert Reinhart is a Lecturer at the Bienen School of Music, Northwestern University, where he coordinates the second-year theory and aural skills curriculum. His research and compositional work focus on microtonal ear training, early music instrumentation, and extended performance techniques.
Reinhart’s compositions span contemporary classical music, with works like Quodlibet (2018) and Warp and Woof (2017) emphasizing experimental instrumentation and timbral exploration. His pieces have been performed internationally and are being recorded by notable artists such as Andrew Arceci and Joann Cho.
His scientific awards include recognition from the Union League Civic and Arts Foundation and ASCAP. As a performer, he collaborates with ensembles like a.pe.ri.od.ic and the Triple Reed Trio, contributing as a vocalist and bassoonist.
Reinhart holds a Doctor of Music (DMus) from Northwestern University and degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and San Francisco State University. He has taught composition and orchestration at Columbia College and serves on the board of Ensemble Dal Niente.
