Robert L. Birmingham is a Professor at the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he has been a faculty member since 1974. He earned his JD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, served as editor-in-chief of the Pitt Law Review, and holds an LLM from Harvard Law School and dual Ph.D.s in economics and philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh.
His academic career includes interdisciplinary teaching in courses such as Law and Economics, Law and Philosophy, Energy Law, and Feminist Legal Theory. Prior to UConn, he served as assistant and associate professor at Indiana University (Bloomington) Law School and as a visiting professor at Ohio State University School of Law.
Professor Birmingham is a prolific scholar, contributing dozens of law review articles and book reviews on topics spanning legal theory, First Amendment law, and maritime law. His recent co-authored works appeared in the Journal of Maritime Law and Commerce.
