Robert J. Quinlan is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Washington State University (WSU), affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia and has conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Hawai’i. His research focuses on human behavioral ecology, medical anthropology, demography, ethnobiology, and cross-cultural comparisons, with fieldwork in Africa and the Caribbean. Quinlan teaches courses such as Cultural Ecology, International Development, and Evolutionary Demography. He has led major NSF-funded projects on antibiotic resistance in Tanzania and resilience in Ethiopian farming communities. His work emphasizes collaborative ethnographic science, integrating ecological, cultural, and health-related dimensions.
