Dr Robert Hume is a Research Fellow at the University of Sydney and Lead of Translational Research at the Baird Institute for Applied Heart and Lung Research. He holds affiliations with the Charles Perkins Centre and Sydney School of Medical Sciences. His academic journey includes a BEng/MEng in Biomaterial Science from the University of Sheffield and a PhD from the University of Cambridge.
Dr Hume’s research focuses on cardiovascular regeneration, biomaterials, and therapies for heart failure. He leads projects on biodegradable blood vessel grafts and manages the Sydney Heart Bank.
