Robert Gillezeau is an Assistant Professor of Economic Analysis and Policy at the University of Toronto, with appointments in both the Department of Management at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) and the Rotman School of Management. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Michigan (2015) and a BA in Arts and Science from McMaster University.
His research focuses on economic history, applying causal methodologies from labour economics to analyze topics in modern American and Canadian economic history, particularly the economic history of Indigenous peoples in North America and the impact of African American protest responses to police killings of civilians. He is affiliated with the CICD Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, the Stone Center on Socio-economic Inequality, and the People's History Lab, while also co-directing the Canadian Economics Association's Indigenous Economics Study Group.
