Professor Robert Carlisle is a faculty member in the Faculty of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, holding the title of Professor of Biomedical Engineering. He serves as Director of the MSc in Nanotechnology for Medicine and Healthcare and as Oxford Director for the Centre for Doctoral Training in Engineering Biology.

His research interests focus on Biomedical Engineering and Drug Delivery, particularly the use of ultrasound, nanotechnology, and therapeutic formulation to enhance cancer treatments. Recent publications highlight his work on cavitation-mediated drug delivery, thermosensitive liposomes, and ultrasound-triggered vaccine platforms. These studies span topics such as cancer immunotherapy, transdermal delivery, and clinical trial design for targeted therapies.
Scientific awards include the CRS Jorge Heller JCR Outstanding Paper Award 2016. His research has led to industrial collaborations and the co-founding of OxSonics Ltd, a spin-out company focused on oncology drug delivery.
