Robert C. Allen

Dr. Robert C. Allen is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM). He holds a D.O. from Western University of the Health Sciences/College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific and undergraduate degrees in Biological Sciences and Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine. His career includes extensive military service in the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a flight surgeon, emergency medicine residency director, and head physician for Special Tactics. Post-retirement, he worked with the Department of Energy and taught aeromedical evacuation and disaster medicine before joining UIWSOM in 2017.

His research interests focus on Wilderness Medicine, Operational/Tactical Medicine, and Disaster Medicine. He has practiced medicine globally across five continents. Beyond academia, he enjoys hiking and diving.
