Robert Brown

Professor Robert Brown is a Printmaking Professor and Associate Chair of Printmaking at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Atlanta, GA, since Fall 2002. He has held roles including Graduate Coordinator (2007–2009), Master Printer at Flatbed Press (Austin, TX), and adjunct faculty at Southwest Texas University and Austin Community College. His expertise spans etching, photogravure, relief, collagraph, and digital techniques.

Research & Creative Work: Brown focuses on innovative printmaking techniques and their integration with contemporary art practices. He has collaborated with prominent artists like Kiki Smith and Valerie Hammond through the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Prints. His work explores themes of texture, layering, and digital hybridity in printmaking.

Exhibitions & Presentations: He has exhibited widely, including at IPCNY, the High Museum (Atlanta), and the Blanton Museum (Austin). Notable presentations include technical demonstrations on photogravure and augmented reality at the Southern Graphics Council International (2017). He has also organized international exhibitions like the SGCI Traveling Show (Knoxville, 2015).

Teaching: Teaches foundational courses in design, color theory, and printmaking at SCAD. Previously instructed workshops at Rice University and the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop.
