Rita Curvelo

Rita Curvelo serves as Assistant Professor at the Human Sciences Faculty of Portuguese Catholic University and conducts research at CECC (Research Centre for Communication and Culture). Previously, she held significant professional roles including Radio Host and Producer at Radio Renascença (1999-2015) and Senior Consultant at Omnicom PR Group (2017-2019), establishing a robust bridge between academic theory and media practice.

Curvelo's scholarly work centers on Cultural Marketing, Radio Studies, and Organizational Communication, with specialized expertise in radio audiences, public engagement dynamics, and digital media's impact on traditional broadcasting. Her research extends to inclusion/diversity in communication, place branding through soundscapes, and podcasting's evolving role in media ecosystems. She has authored two influential books: Marketing das Artes em Direto (2009) and A Rádio Musical no panorama ibérico (2021), establishing her authority in Portuguese media studies.

Analysis of her 2022-2023 publications reveals two dominant research trajectories: First, rigorous examination of radio's pandemic resilience, particularly through case studies of Renascença's morning programming during COVID-19, demonstrating radio's adaptive capacity in crisis. Second, innovative investigations into cultural tourism development, where she positions Mafra's musical heritage as strategic infrastructure for smart city growth and place branding.

Professionally active beyond publications, Curvelo has supervised three academic works at UCP and maintains significant engagement through conference organization including the Sustainable Growth Dinner-Debate (2023) and Portugal XXI: Agricultura Sustentável (2023), while presenting on podcast consumption trends (2024) and banking sector inclusion strategies (2024).
