Richard Wright is a Regents’ Professor in the Criminal Justice and Criminology Department at Georgia State University and Editor-in-Chief of Oxford Bibliographies [Criminology]. His research focuses on urban street criminals, including residential burglars, armed robbers, carjackers, and drug dealers, with over 70 scholarly articles and six books. He has been funded by prestigious organizations like the National Science Foundation and NIJ. His recent work explores declining cash use and its impact on street crime and drug-related deaths.
Notable awards include the 1994-95 Outstanding Scholarship in Crime and Delinquency Award and election as a Fellow of the American Society of Criminology (2009). His books, such as Armed Robbers in Action and Street Justice: Retaliation in the Criminal Underworld, are seminal in criminology. He has appeared on major media outlets and taught graduate courses like Criminological Issues and Qualitative Methods.
