Richard Walker is an Associate Professor of Instruction in the Department of Economics at Northwestern University, part of the Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences. He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics (2002). His research focuses on macroeconomics, political economy, and economic growth, with specific interests in specialization, information, coordination mechanisms, and models of conflict. He is also engaged in teaching monetary economics, international finance, and econometrics, and leads freshman seminars on topics like financial crises and the economics of Hollywood.
Education: PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics (2002), M.Sc. in Economics (1995), and B.Sc. in Economics (First Class Honours, 1994), all from LSE. Professional experience includes roles as Consultant Economist at The Cambridge Group and HM Treasury, and a Stipendiary Lecturer at University College, Oxford.
Teaching and Advising: Supervised numerous undergraduate theses, served as freshman advisor since 2009, and was on the Continuing Lecturer Faculty advisory committee (2013-14). Recognized with the ASG Faculty Honor Roll four consecutive years (2010-2014). His British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship (2003-2006) supported research, teaching, and mentoring activities at LSE.
