Catherine Connolly

Catherine Connolly is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Economics and Finance, Queen Mary University of London, where she teaches Economic Appraisal for the Economics Masters Apprenticeship Programme. She is the founder of economicsense, a specialist economics training consultancy, and serves on the Council of the Society of Professional Economists. Additionally, she teaches policy economics at Leeds University.

Her career includes roles as a Senior Civil Servant in the British Civil Service (HM Treasury, DEFRA), member of the Government Economic Service, and positions at Deutsche Bank Research, New Zealand Treasury, and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. Her expertise spans macroeconomic forecasting, monetary policy, cost-benefit analysis, innovation economics, and environmental economics, particularly biodiversity and marine conservation.

Catherine holds a post-graduate honours degree in macro-economics from Otago University, New Zealand. Her professional work combines academic teaching with policy analysis and consultancy, reflecting her diverse experience in public and private sectors.
