معرفی
Dr. Richard Samade is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW). He completed his medical education at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (2015), followed by an Orthopedic Surgery residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (2021), and a Hand Surgery fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery/Weill Cornell Medical Center (2022). His clinical practice focuses on hand and wrist surgery, with particular expertise in complex reconstruction, trauma management, and surgical techniques for wrist disorders.
Dr. Samade's research spans multiple areas within orthopedic surgery, with a primary focus on hand and wrist surgery outcomes, surgical techniques, and orthopedic education. His work examines complications in hand surgery during early independent practice, surgical management of scaphoid fractures, treatment patterns for distal radius fractures, and outcomes following various wrist reconstruction procedures. He has also contributed to research on shoulder arthroplasty, orthopedic infections, and the use of standardized letters of recommendation in orthopedic surgery residency applications. His research methodology includes clinical outcomes studies, biomechanical analyses, and systematic reviews of surgical techniques.
His recent publications demonstrate a clear trajectory in hand and wrist surgery, with increasing focus on surgical complications, outcomes research, and technique development. Dr. Samade has published extensively on distal radius fractures, DRUJ reconstruction, wrist arthrodesis, and complications in hand surgery. His work bridges clinical practice with academic research, contributing significantly to evidence-based practices in hand surgery.
Dr. Samade has been actively involved in orthopedic education, particularly in the residency application process and medical student evaluation. His work examining variation in core clerkship grading for orthopedic surgery applicants provides valuable insights for medical education.
His clinical practice appears to focus primarily on hand and upper extremity surgery, with research extending into shoulder surgery and orthopedic trauma more broadly. Dr. Samade collaborates with multiple colleagues across institutions, particularly with Dr. Kevin Goyal and other members of the orthopedic surgery community.
