معرفی
Richard Rubenstein is a Professor in the Department of Neurology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. His research spans over three decades, focusing on neurodegenerative disorders, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and their long-term pathological consequences, including tauopathies and synucleinopathies. He integrates translational studies using in vitro, in vivo, and human patient models to advance biomarker discovery and diagnostic technologies.
Education:
- BS - Brooklyn College
- MS - Brooklyn College
- PhD - New York University
- Post Doctorate - Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
Dr. Rubenstein's laboratory investigates the neuropathophysiological mechanisms underlying TBI and its progression to diseases such as Alzheimer’s and chronic traumatic encephalopathy. His work emphasizes developing ultrasensitive diagnostic assays and neuroprotective therapies through pharmacological and molecular strategies.
His research employs laser-based instrumentation and site-directed immunological reagents to detect biomarkers in the central nervous system (CNS) and biofluids, targeting disease diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic monitoring. This approach bridges basic science and clinical applications in neurology.
