Richard Pinel is a distinguished organist, choral conductor, and music educator. He currently holds roles as a Fellow and former Director of Music at Jesus College, Cambridge (until December 2022), and previously served as Assistant Director of Music at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. His academic background includes an organ scholarship at Magdalen College, Oxford (2002), and a Junior Fellowship in the Organ Department of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Pinel’s career spans performance, teaching, and administration, with notable achievements including the Grammy-nominated recordings with Magdalen College Choir and the world premiere recording of Grayston Ives’ Requiem, which entered the classical charts.
He is actively involved in music education, regularly tutoring at the Oundle for Organists courses and mentoring organ students. His performance career includes recitals at prestigious venues like King’s College, Cambridge, and St John’s Smith Square, alongside international engagements in Europe and the USA. Pinel’s discography includes the acclaimed L’Orgue Symphonique, praised for its 'electrifying impact.'
As a conductor, he led the Edington Festival from 2017 to 2021 and collaborated with the Britten Sinfonia. His awards include top honors at the Breda International Organ Competition, underscoring his technical and artistic mastery.
