Rupert Gough serves as Director of Choral Music and College Organist at Royal Holloway, University of London since 2005, and concurrently holds the position of Organist and Director of Music at Great Saint Bartholomew, London's oldest surviving church with a professional choir.
His educational foundation includes:
- Chorister at the Chapels Royal, St. James's Palace
- Scholarship recipient at the Purcell School
- Master's degree in English Church Music (with distinction) from the University of East Anglia as Organ Scholar at Norwich Cathedral
Gough is internationally recognized for choral direction, organ mastery, and harpsichord performance. His signature work with the Gough Duo (violin-organ partnership) has spanned extensive American tours from Florida to Alaska, plus major performances for 1,800 attendees in Moscow and 1,200 in Hong Kong. As a conductor, he regularly collaborates with elite ensembles including Britten Sinfonia, London Mozart Players, and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, partnering with renowned soloists like Julian Lloyd Webber and Emma Kirkby.
His distinguished achievement includes winning Third Prize at the St. Alban's International Organ Competition in 2001.
With nearly 50 commercial recordings, Gough has significantly advanced choral and organ repertoire through works by Sir Percy Buck (Priory Records), Carson Cooman (Naxos/Albany), and Josef Rheinberger (Hyperion Records), while upcoming projects include collaboration with the King's Singers at their inaugural UK Summer School.
