Richard MacPike serves as Technical Instructor in Costume Production at Bennington College since Fall 2011, managing the costume shop and teaching specialized courses including draping, pattern drafting, tailoring, and millinery for dance and drama productions. Prior to Bennington, he spent a decade as costume shop manager at Cornell University and worked on Broadway shows like The Lion King and The Green Bird through Parsons-Meares, Ltd., alongside projects for Ringling Brothers circuses and Disney productions.

Professional Expertise
MacPike specializes in hands-on costume construction techniques, integrating industry experience from theatre, opera, and large-scale entertainment into pedagogy. His expertise spans historical costume fabrication, fabric modification, and specialized crafts like millinery and mask making, preparing students for professional production roles through courses such as Embodying Structure: Construction of the Corset and Resisting The Stitch.
