Christa Koerner is a Lecturer in Theatre and Costume Shop Supervisor at Oakland University's School of Music, Theatre and Dance. She joined the university in 2011 as a costumer for the Department of Dance and expanded her role to Costume Shop Manager in 2014. She teaches courses including Costume Construction, Costume Craft, Draping and Patterning, and Tailoring.
Her research and professional practice focus on theatrical costume design and production. Key areas include:

- Historical and contemporary draping methods
- Specialized tailoring for performance
- Theatrical production management
As Costume Shop Manager, she oversees production for all SMTD performances and serves as resident designer for Oakland Dance Theatre, Take Root Dance Company, and Eisenhower Dance Detroit. Her notable design credits include productions like Hockey! The Musical, Taming of the Shrew (Shakespeare in the Park), and works for professional theaters nationwide.
She maintains active industry collaborations with Youth America Grand Prix ballet competitions, creating professional ballet tutus for events in Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Indianapolis.
