Dr. Richard Lisichenko is a Professor of Geosciences and Geography at Fort Hays State University (FHSU), located in Tomanek Hall. He holds a Ph.D. (1999) and M.A. (1993) from Kansas State University, specializing in GIS, Remote Sensing, and Geography of Russia, and a B.S. (1991) from SUNY Oneonta. His research focuses on Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geographic Education, Remote Sensing, and the Geography of Russia.
Dr. Lisichenko teaches courses such as Introduction to GIS, Intermediate GIS, Advanced GIS, and World Geography. He has authored publications on GIS applications in environmental analysis, disease mapping, and educational methodologies. He has received the Outstanding Advisor of the Year (2007) and was a Pilot Teaching Award nominee (2004, 2005).

His current research explores GIS programming with Python and innovative spatial education methods. He actively engages in community outreach, including GIS Day coordination, geography bee judging, and educational presentations at schools and conferences.
