Richard Gehrmann is an Adjunct Research Fellow at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), affiliated with the Centre for Heritage and Culture (Research). He holds qualifications including a Master of Arts (Deakin), Master of Education (USQ), and a Master of Studies from the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on war and society, social and cultural history, international relations, military geography, and military culture studies.
He has authored/co-edited notable works such as *Communication, Interpreting and Language in Wartime* (2020) and *Memory and the Wars on Terror* (2017). As part of a collaborative research team, he contributed to *A Possession Forever* (2021), supported by grants from the Department of Veterans Affairs and USQ. His work explores the role of monuments in historical understanding and their educational applications.
Teaching includes courses on strategic studies, Australian foreign relations, and international relations. He supervises research in cultural studies, historical studies, and related fields. Professional memberships include the Royal Geographical Society and the Australian Historical Association.
