Professor Richard Gameson is a leading scholar in the History of the Book and Medieval Art, affiliated with Durham University's Department of History and the Institute of Medieval and Early Modern Studies. His research focuses on medieval manuscripts, book collections, and the intersection of art and text. He has authored over 100 studies, including seminal works on the Lindisfarne Gospels and Canterbury Cathedral manuscripts. Collaborating with scientists, he pioneered pigment analysis in medieval art through projects like The Pigments of British Medieval Illuminators (2023).
