معرفی
Richard Engeln is a part-time Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Physics and Science Education of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), specializing in optical diagnostics and plasma physics. He leads research in plasma-based gas conversion and collaborates internationally with groups in Paris, Lisbon, and DIFFER.
- Education: MSc and PhD in Physics from Radboud University Nijmegen (1987, 1991)
- Academic Career: Postdoc at TU/e (1993-1995) and Radboud University (1995-1998); Assistant Professor at TU/e before being promoted to Associate Professor in 2005
His research focuses on plasma and materials processing, particularly using Raman, CARS, and CRD spectroscopy to study technological plasmas. Key work includes ultra-sensitive absorption detection schemes and CO2 plasma conversion, with recent publications analyzing VUV spectroscopic data for molecular hydrogen systems.
Engeln contributes to educational initiatives, teaching courses on optical diagnostics and plasma physics. He maintains strong industry ties, notably with ASML B.V., and previously served as editor-in-chief of the Dutch Journal of Physics and its English digital version (2012-2017).
