Richard Crosby is a Professor at the University of Kentucky's College of Public Health (CPH), Department of Health, Behavior, and Society. He has held endowed professorships at both Emory University and the University of Kentucky and served as department chair for 9 years. His work focuses on HIV prevention, condom use methodologies, and HPV-related research, particularly in the Southern U.S. and marginalized populations.
Education: PhD in Public Health from Indiana University (1998), MA from Central Michigan University (1984), and BA from the University of Kentucky (1981).
Research Interests: Crosby leads large-scale CDC- and NIH-funded studies, including the CDC-designated 'Focus on the Future' HIV intervention and HPV prevalence studies. He has authored over 300 peer-reviewed articles and nine textbooks, emphasizing evidence-based prevention strategies.
Grants & Awards: Totalling $20M in grants, including two CDC Prevention Research Center awards. Honors include multiple teaching awards and the W.W. Patty Distinguished Alumni Award.
Labs/Teams: Collaborates with the Markey Cancer Center and Substance Use Priority Research Area, leading projects on opioid treatment and STI prevention across diverse U.S. regions.
