Erika Martin is an Associate Professor of Public Administration and Policy at Rockefeller College, University at Albany (SUNY), and a faculty affiliate at the Center for Collaborative Research in Practice and Policy. She directs the Coalition for Applied Modeling and Prevention (CAMP), a CDC-funded multi-institution consortium that develops decision-support models for public health policy in HIV, viral hepatitis, STIs, tuberculosis, and adolescent health. Her research focuses on infectious disease policy, resource allocation, and translating evidence into practice through modeling, program evaluation, and economic analysis.
Her work emphasizes improving public health infrastructure and data systems, particularly in addressing disparities and enhancing surveillance quality. Notable projects include developing tools to estimate PrEP access barriers and modeling the impact of HIV prevention budgets. She teaches research design and program evaluation at Rockefeller College.
CAMP’s efforts have produced high-impact publications and interactive tools used by policymakers. Recent work includes analyzing geographic disparities in HIV care access and evaluating public health responses to the opioid epidemic and pandemic challenges. Her research consistently integrates health equity principles, such as improving accessibility for marginalized populations and enhancing data usability through human-centered design.
Dr. Martin collaborates with federal agencies like the CDC and state health departments, ensuring her work bridges academic research and real-world policy implementation. Her grants include CDC funding for CAMP’s modeling initiatives and projects on open data usability in public health.
She leads the CAMP team, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among epidemiologists, modelers, and policymakers. Ongoing efforts focus on advancing STI prevention tools, optimizing TB outbreak investigations, and addressing hepatitis C prevalence in the U.S.
