Ricardo Javier Vázquez

Ricardo Javier Vázquez is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Indiana University Bloomington. His research focuses on the interface of organic materials and biology, addressing challenges in precision life science, green-energy production/storage, and environmental remediation.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras (UPRRP)
• PhD in Chemistry from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (advisor: Theodore Goodson III)
• Postdoctoral research at National University of Singapore under Guillermo C. Bazan

Research Themes: Develops water-soluble organic semiconductors for energy storage, bioimaging, biocatalysis, and bioelectronics. Utilizes time-resolved spectroscopy and non-linear optics to study optoelectronic properties of materials. Aims to bridge organic materials innovation with biological applications for sustainable solutions.
