Rhys Michael Bidder is a Senior Lecturer in Finance at King's Business School and Deputy Director of the Qatar Centre for Global Banking & Finance. He holds affiliations as a Research Fellow at the National Institute of Economic Research (NIESR) and the Janeway Institute (Cambridge). His research focuses on macroeconomic policy, banking, financial regulation, and climate risk integration into financial modeling.
Education: BA/MA and MPhil in Economics from the University of Cambridge (King's College), PhD in Economics from NYU (advisor: Tom Sargent). Formerly at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.
Research interests include stress testing, monetary policy, and the implications of climate risks on financial systems. He publishes in leading journals like the American Economic Review and Journal of Monetary Economics. He organizes initiatives such as the Young Economist Prize Competition and hosts events on digital currencies, climate finance, and central bank policies.
