Dr. Reza Fathifazl is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Ottawa and an Adjunct Research Professor and Lecturer at Carleton University. He works as a Research Officer at the National Research Council Canada (NRC) in the Civil Engineering Infrastructure (CEI) unit since 2015. His expertise spans structural engineering, sustainable construction materials, and seismic risk mitigation.
- Education: B.Sc. (Civil Engineering, University of Guilan, 1995), M.Sc. (Structural Engineering, Iran University of Science and Technology, 2000), Ph.D. (Carleton University, 2008).
- Professional Experience: Over 8 years as a senior structural design engineer in Ottawa firms like Adjeleian Allen Rubeli and WSP Canada. Notable projects include seismic renovations of key Canadian infrastructure such as the Wellington Building and Parliament of Canada buildings.
Research interests focus on recycled concrete aggregate utilization, structural design innovation, and climate-resilient infrastructure. He is a member of ACI and RILEM technical committees and has authored/co-authored over 44 research papers and technical reports.
