Reuben Pengelly is a Principal Teaching Fellow in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton, serving as Programme Lead for the MSc Genomics and Deputy Director of the Graduate School. His research spans cancer genomics, educational pedagogy, and RNA splicing mechanisms. Pengelly investigates mutational profiles in rare peritoneal malignancies and the relationship between splicing regulation and metal-binding proteins.
His pedagogical research examines student attitudes toward academic integrity in the context of emerging technologies. As a doctoral supervisor, he mentors students in health sciences and human development. Pengelly collaborates with clinical researchers at the Peritoneal Malignancy Institute and maintains editorial responsibilities for the European Journal of Human Genetics.
Key projects include genomic analysis of pseudomyxoma peritonei tumors and developing frameworks for academic integrity in genomic education. His team employs bioinformatic approaches to characterize cancer driver mutations and splicing variations.
