Dr. Resul Karaca is a Research Associate at Paderborn University’s Institute of Romance Studies since 2015, specializing in Spanish literature and cultural studies. He concurrently serves the Belgium Center (BELZ) and the Romance Literature and Cultural Studies department. His work focuses on identity constructions in France, medieval Iberian history, cultural transfer, and football narratives in Latino America. He supervises the BelgienNet platform for language and cultural education.
Education: Completed a cotutelle doctorate (Paderborn University & Paris Sciences et Lettres) on Muslims’ role in French national identity debates. Currently pursuing a habilitation on Argentine football short stories’ cultural characteristics.
Research Interests: Explores intersections of religion, migration, and national identity through historical and literary lenses. Active in digital pedagogy and intercultural education projects like BelgienNet. Recent work analyzes football’s role in cultural narratives and medieval legacy in contemporary Spain.
Publications: Focus on French Islamic history, migration impacts, and educational material analysis. Recent works include Constructions de l’identité Nationale (2023) and BelgienNet platform studies (2024).
Academic Engagement: Organizes conferences on topics like football narratives (2025) and Islam in popular culture (2022). Member of Deutscher Hispanistenverband and Romanistenverband since 2023/2024.
Teaching: Offers courses on medieval Spain’s mythic legacy and sports literature. Advises theses on topics ranging from Maradona’s mythos to the Mezquita-Cathedral’s symbolism.
