Reshmi Parameswaran

Reshmi Parameswaran is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Medicine, Pathology, and Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University's School of Medicine. She holds membership in the Immune Oncology Program of the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her research focuses on developing cellular therapies (CAR-T, CAR-NK) for liquid/solid tumors and autoimmune diseases, with emphasis on overcoming tumor microenvironment-mediated drug resistance and enhancing immune cell cytotoxicity mechanisms. Key innovations include BAFF ligand-based CAR-T therapies entering clinical trials for B-cell malignancies.

Education: MSc Biochemistry (Mahatma Gandhi University, India), PhD Cell Biology (Weizmann Institute, Israel), Postdoc at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (BAFF/ALL research). Laboratory activities include: 1) CAR-engineered immune cell optimization, 2) Mechanisms of NK cell dysfunction in cancer, 3) Dietary ingredient impacts on immune function, 4) Leukemia drug resistance pathways.

Current initiatives involve translational research on combination therapies for drug-resistant ALL and exploring O-GlcNAc glycosylation's role in immune cell function. Her lab has filed multiple patents and collaborates across disciplines including immunology, hematology, and computational biology.
