Rene Martinez

Rene Martinez, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor and Program Director at the Graduate School of Education at Regent University. He holds a Ph.D. in Education specializing in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, along with a Master of Urban Education and a Bachelor of Elementary Education/English from The College of New Jersey.

His teaching focuses on literacy instruction, curriculum design, assessment, and education leadership, emphasizing student-centered learning environments. Research interests include teacher-student relationships, evidence-based literacy practices, and curriculum design.

Recent publications explore the impact of positive behavioral interventions on classroom discipline and teacher efficacy, as well as the effectiveness of teacher preparation strategies. Dr. Martinez is affiliated with the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), Virginia ASCD, and the American Educational Research Association (AERA).

He has extensive K-12 experience as a secondary English coordinator, literacy coach, and administrator, contributing to curriculum development initiatives and mentoring student teachers.
