Dr. Renata Konadu serves as a Lecturer in Accounting at the Southampton Business School, University of Southampton, where she joined in September 2021. With approximately seven years of international and national teaching and research experience, she contributes to various undergraduate and postgraduate modules including Corporate Reporting, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Corporate Governance, Investment Analysis, and Environmental Accounting.
Her research focuses on sustainability reporting, carbon accounting, net zero initiatives, ESG/CSR assurance, and corporate governance. As a member of the Centre for Research in Accounting, Accountability and Governance, Centre for Accounting Education (CAE), and CESAR| Centre of Excellence in Sustainability Accounting and Reporting, she actively contributes to advancing knowledge in sustainable business practices. Her work examines how governance structures and stakeholder engagement influence environmental reporting and corporate sustainability performance.
Dr. Konadu's publication record from 2017-2022 demonstrates a consistent research trajectory examining the intersection of corporate governance, environmental accountability, and accounting practices. Her work particularly investigates how board composition (especially gender diversity), corporate governance frameworks, and stakeholder pressures shape environmental disclosure practices, carbon emissions management, and sustainability reporting.

As an experienced supervisor, Dr. Konadu currently mentors PhD students Joshua Damilare Olaniyan and Olawale Nurudeen Sanni. She is actively involved in two significant funded projects: assisting SMEs in preparing sustainability reports according to GRI Standards, and contributing to the development of Ghana's National Corporate Governance Code. Her professional activities include serving as an ad-hoc reviewer for prestigious journals including British Journal of Management and International Review of Financial Analysis.
Dr. Konadu is affiliated with multiple research centers including the Centre for Research in Accounting, Accountability and Governance, Centre for Accounting Education, and CESAR| Centre of Excellence in Sustainability Accounting and Reporting, where she collaborates with colleagues on sustainability-focused research initiatives and knowledge dissemination.
