Reinis Putrālis

Reinis Putrālis is a Teaching Staff member in the Department of Human Physiology and Biochemistry at Riga Stradiņš University's Faculty of Pharmacy. He is also a PhD student in Pharmacy and serves as a Research Assistant at the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis.

His research expertise spans multiple disciplines related to photoluminescent compounds, with a particular focus on styrylpyridinium derivatives for biomedical applications. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in health and well-being.

Putrālis leads the student project "Active Stirilpiridīnija savienojumi ar agregācijas inducētu emisiju tuvās infrasarkanās gaismas spektrā - to sintēze un īpašību raksturojums" (2025) and is involved in the PhD project "The synthesis, properties, and applications of styrilpyridine derivatives with conjugated double-bond systems" (2023-2027).

His research involves collaboration with multiple institutions and researchers, focusing on developing novel compounds that self-assemble into nanoparticles with applications in cancer treatment through photodynamic therapy.
