Dr. Rebecca Vince is a Senior Lecturer in Health Physiology at the University of Hull, affiliated with the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences within the Faculty of Health Sciences. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Science from the University of Hull (2005), focusing on targeted photodynamic therapy for chronic wounds caused by MRSA. Her research interests span health, nutrition, and physical activity, with a focus on workplace performance, women’s health interventions, health technology, and the human stress response in disease contexts.
Dr. Vince teaches on programs such as the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Nutrition and modules like Nutrition in Specialist Sporting Populations. She leads research projects funded by organizations like Breast Cancer Now and the NHS, investigating workplace return post-breast cancer and home-based exercise programs for obese adults. Her work emphasizes translational research, integrating exercise, nutrition, and technology to improve health outcomes.
Her recent publications highlight advancements in understanding nutrition’s role in mitigating cardiotoxicity in breast cancer patients, resistance training benefits during chemotherapy, and exercise barriers in severe obesity. These studies underscore her interdisciplinary approach, blending clinical, physiological, and psychological perspectives. Dr. Vince also supervises self-funded postgraduate research in workplace health, women’s health interventions, and stress response mechanisms.
