Rebecca Tekula, Ph.D., is Professor and Chair of Public Administration at Pace University’s Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, and Executive Director of the Helene and Grant Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship. She also serves as Interim Associate Provost for External Engagement and Faculty Opportunity. Her academic affiliations are deeply rooted in public service, nonprofit leadership, and social innovation.
Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in Public Management and Economics from the University of Lugano, Switzerland; an MPA in Nonprofit Management from Pace University; an MBA in Social Entrepreneurship, Finance, and Strategy from the University of Oxford; and a BA in English Literature from Vassar College.
Tekula’s research focuses on impact investing, social enterprise, social finance, and governance, with a strong emphasis on community-engaged research that involves stakeholders as equal partners. Her work bridges academic rigor with real-world application, particularly in evaluating the financial health of nonprofits, community needs assessments, and public service delivery. She has led funded projects with organizations such as the Westchester County Hispanic Advisory Board, the Council of Family and Childcare Agencies, and the Teagle Foundation.
Her publications span high-impact journals including Journal of Business Ethics, Public Administration Review, and Social Enterprise Journal. The trends in her recent work reflect a consistent focus on equity, organizational resilience, and the growing role of nonprofit and public sectors in social finance and impact investing.

Tekula actively mentors students and collaborates with graduate researchers on funded projects. She teaches courses such as Public Administration and its Environment, Financial Resource Development for Nonprofits, and Social Entrepreneurship. She also leads the Wilson Center’s Faculty Fellows program, supporting interdisciplinary research on social issues. Her leadership extends to professional service in organizations like the Academy of Management and ARNOVA, where she contributes to innovation and equity in public and nonprofit management scholarship.
