Ric Kolenda is a Clinical Associate Professor and Associate Chair of Public Administration at Pace University’s Dyson College of Arts and Sciences in New York City. He teaches graduate-level courses in public policy, public administration, and urban planning. His academic leadership includes serving as Associate Chair and contributing to curriculum development in public affairs.

Ric’s research focuses on public affairs pedagogy, urban policy, nonprofit entrepreneurship, and the gig economy. His work explores how innovation and technology influence urban economic development, with attention to inequality, opportunity, and creative industries. He has published in journals such as the Journal of Urban Affairs, Urban Studies, and Economic Development Quarterly. His recent publications examine the post-pandemic gig workforce, the spatial distribution of creative industries, and contingent work measurement.
His grant-funded research includes a Teagle Foundation project to develop an undergraduate civic fellowship program at Pace, aimed at empowering first-generation students for civic leadership in NYC. His teaching includes courses such as Research Design, Applied Data Analysis, Program Evaluation, and Municipal Management.

Ric is actively involved in professional service, including leadership roles in the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) NY Metropolitan Chapter, where he has served as President and President-Elect. He advises on civic engagement initiatives and has contributed to public service programming. He maintains a personal website and blog discussing urban issues, technology, and inequality. His work bridges academic scholarship with practical innovation in public service and urban development.
