Rebecca Sweetman is a Professor at the School of Classics, University of St Andrews, specializing in Mediterranean archaeology with particular focus on Roman and Late Antique Crete, Cyclades, and the Peloponnese. Her research integrates network theory to analyze globalization, Christianization, and material culture dynamics. Currently serving as Director of the British School at Athens, she continues supervising St Andrews PhD students and leads innovative projects on island economies and religious transitions.

Her work on Late Antique churches examines spatial relationships and cultural memory, while her Leverhulme-funded research produced the first comprehensive Cyclades monograph. Recent projects include female mobility studies and haptic archaeology for well-being.
