Rebecca Molena is a Lecturer in Bioscience at Keele University, affiliated with the School of Life Sciences. She holds a PhD (part-time, ongoing) focusing on drug screening in kinetoplastids at Keele's Centre for Applied Entomology and Parasitology, funded by Omeros. Her academic journey includes an MPhil from the University of Cambridge (2018) and a research assistant role at Sir Peter Lachmann's Complement Immunology Lab. She previously worked in medical communications at Springer Nature before returning to academia.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree with honours in parasitology (2016)
- MPhil in parasitology and anthelmintic resistance (University of Cambridge, 2018)
Research Interests:
- Parasitology, particularly equine and livestock infections
- Development of diagnostic tools for IgA nephropathy
- Anthelmintic resistance mechanisms
- Drug screening for kinetoplastid pathogens
Teaching: Contributes to parasitology modules in biomedical science and human biology programs. Her work bridges veterinary and human medical research.
